Duckling Installs FrameCycler with DualStream for Stereoscopic Review
"You don’t choose stereo, stereo chooses you"
Copenhagen: November 6, 2007 ... IRIDAS, the industry leader in uncompressed stereoscopic playback technologies, has announced the sale of multiple seats of FrameCycler 2007 with DualStream to Duckling|Supersonic, a vfx and audio facility specializing in high-end commercial and feature work based in Copenhagen. Now artists at Duckling can check stereoscopic content right at their workstation and teams can hold daily review sessions of longer stereo sequences with FrameCycler DDS.

"I've used FrameCycler for a long time and it's always been
great," said Craig Clarke, VFX supervisor at Duckling. "It
works with the other tools we use, support has been
excellent, and the integration with cineSpace ensures that
everything we watch in FrameCycler is correctly calibrated."
"When I came to Duckling for this new stereo project, I
showed them FrameCycler and
SequencePublisher [IRIDAS'
workflow automation application] and it really opened their
eyes to a new way of working with digital content."
Doing stereo adds a whole new level of complexity to
postprodution work. "Bill Reeves, the DP on this project,
once told me 'you don't choose stereo; stereo chooses you,'
and he was right" recalled Clarke. "I remember the first
stereo job I did, an animation feature for IMAX. We had to
go down to the IMAX theater every morning to review
one-minute loops of film, just to check our progress. I
can't believe we got through it. Now I just press play in
FrameCycler and away we go."
The current project, a large-scale corporate piece, called
for new tools at Duckling. Now, with the IRIDAS
applications, the facility has a full digital workflow in
place. "We use FrameCycler Professional for Mac here on our
artists' workstations. We use SequencePublisher on a Windows
machine to prepare shots for daily review session with our
FrameCycler DDS system. All of our FrameCyclers are equipped
with DualStream for automatic stereo playback."
FrameCycler Professional and FrameCycler Digital Daily
System (DDS) run on Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, and are a
part of the FrameCycler family of uncompressed playback
applications. For more information on FrameCycler 2007 or
