France's Digital Acquisition Pioneer Selects IRIDAS for Review

Paris: October 24, 2007 ... IRIDAS, the industry leader in uncompressed playback solutions, has announced the sale of FrameCycler DDS to TFS DATA for use in their Paris review facility. TFS is the leader for digital acquisition technologies in France and operates rental divisions, studios, and a data management division at locations in Paris, Cannes, and Marseilles. With FrameCycler DDS, TFS can now offer immediate playback of extended 2K sequences for client review and approval.

TFS specializes in feature film work and long-form TV drama and was the first French rental house to complete a Viper digital camera project. "As we got into data acquisition it became clear that our clients needed data management support," said Danys Bruyere, Deputy Managing Director of Operations and Technologies at TFS. "With the growing need for working in 2K we realized that a suitable screening facility was a must. FrameCycler DDS solves several problems for us here: it allows us to view material immediately at 2K and saves us the time and resources we would otherwise need for processing and compressing content."

TFS is the only facility to represent DALSA - outside off DALSA itself. "We need a way to review uncompressed, 10-bit 2K content: FrameCycler DDS gives us that. We down-res the DALSA's 4K data for our Cinemeccanica/Barco projector." The TFS theater seats 126 in comfort and features a full-sized 40-foot screen. "It's a real showcase for the image quality of uncompressed frames," adds Bruyere. "We can review long sequences without a hitch. FrameCycler is a real workflow tool for us and saves us a lot of time."

By the end of 2007, the various TFS divisions will have completed work this year on over 70 feature films and over 1000 hours of broadcast drama including acquisition and data management through to final screenings and approval.
