SpeedGrade to Star in Munich's
Matrix 07 Event
In-Depth Digital Workflow Presentation and Camera
Shoot-Out
Munich: September 24, 2007 ... SpeedGrade
will be there at both ends of the pipeline in the first
Matrix 07 event presented by DVE and Band Pro at the
Deutsches Museum in Munich on September 27. Visitors,
including an eclectic mix of directors, producers,
cinematographers, VFX supervisors and others, will have the
opportunity to see a variety of tools and configurations in
a digital production pipeline from acquisition through post,
finishing and archiving. The “Stars of IBC 2007" will be
presented in a series of workshops and demonstrations
throughout the day.

At the production end, four digital cameras will face-off.
Data from all four cameras will be pre-graded with
SpeedGrade OnSet 2007 - including the new live controls for
the Cine-tal display. SpeedGrade OnSet 2007 grabs frames
from the monitor at the push of a button and sends looks
back into the display where they can be applied to the live
stream in the display - and fine-tuned from SpeedGrade OnSet."This
is a unique opportunity for filmmakers," said Juergen
Firsching of DVE. "Not only can they see the complete
pipeline, but they can see the implications of different
types of acquisition for postproduction. What goes in
determines what comes out: it's crucial for film
professionals to understand their options.
SpeedGrade DI 2007 will have a chance to show its stuff at
the other end of the pipeline. IRIDAS’ high-end grading and
finishing application can play and grade virtually any file
format, including RAW formats. The ability to load .Look
files from SpeedGrade OnSet ensures perfect color continuity
from cinematographer to colorist. SpeedGrade DI with
DualStream will also be used for a special demonstration of
live grading of stereoscopic content.
"A lot of work done today will end up in a variety of
formats: film, digital cinema, broadcast, and so on,"
explained Juergen Firsching. So developing and maintaining
the artistic look of a project has become much more of an
issue than it was when we had separate pipelines for each
industry. SpeedGrade DI is a first-class film finishing
application and makes it easy to create and store multiple
versions of a project, each customized for a particular
delivery format."
Matrix 07 will take place in the Planetarium at the
Deutsches Museum in Munich. The event begins at 12 noon and
continues to 8:00 pm. For more information, including a full
