IRIDAS Adds RAW Support
for WEISSCAM
See Real-Time RAW Playback at IBC
Munich: August 29, 2007 ... IRIDAS, who introduced the
first real-time playback of RAW footage earlier this year,
today announced support for live de-Bayering of the WEISSCAM
digital camera RAW format. With this implementation,
WEISSCAM RAW footage can be played directly in FrameCycler
and SpeedGrade without prior rendering. This means faster
downloads from the camera, reduced storage requirements and
substantial time savings.

The WEISSCAM HS-1 high-speed camera offers users
exceptional image quality, reliable operation, and an
efficient workflow. IRIDAS support for the WEISSCAM RAW
format gives filmmakers the additional advantage of being
able to work with the picture fidelity of the unaltered
digital negative.
"RAW workflows are one third the size of RGB formats and
offer better image quality," said cinematographer Stefan
Weiss, developer of the WEISSCAM. "With FrameCycler for
playback and SpeedGrade for color correction, filmmakers can
review and test shots and only need to render the sequences
they want for postproduction."
"WEISSCAM is a leader, not just in high-speed cameras, but
in digital cinematography workflows," said IRIDAS CEO and
founder, Lin Kayser. "A tool is only as good as the workflow
it fits into. We're delighted to be able to expand the
options of WEISSCAM users with real-time RAW support in
FrameCycler and SpeedGrade."
Visitors to IBC can see real-time playback of RAW footage
from the WEISSCAM HS-1 camera at P+S Technik (booth 11.630).

About WEISSCAM
WEISSCAM was founded by cinematographer Stefan Weiss in 2003
with the aim of developing a digital high-speed camera, that
meets the real-world needs of modern production work and
offers a complete digital workflow solution. After spending
more than a year developing and perfecting the prototype,
WEISSCAM joined forces with P+S TECHNIK in 2005 to produce
the camera. The WEISSCAM HS-1 was introduced at NAB in 2006
and in just one year has become the leading high-speed
digital camera in the film and TV markets. For more

About IRIDAS
IRIDAS pioneered desktop film-resolution playback in 2001.
Its FrameCycler products are now the industry standard for
frame-based image review. In 2003 IRIDAS introduced the
first non-destructive color correction application. Today
SpeedGrade and FrameCycler provide the critical links in an
end-to-end pipeline for uncompressed content and color
metadata. IRIDAS' applications are used by filmmakers around
the world and most major animation and postproduction houses.
