IRIDAS Announces
Phantom Camera Support
Vision Research Collaboration Provides First Real-Time
Playback of RAW Digital Footage
Munich: March 27, 2007 ... IRIDAS, the industry pioneer
in non-destructive color grading technologies, and Vision
Research, the long-established leader in high-speed digital
imaging, announced today that support for the Cine RAW file
format will be included in all current IRIDAS applications.
This means that filmmakers working with Phantom HD and
Phantom 65 cameras will have native file support for color
grading and playback with IRIDAS' SpeedGrade and FrameCycler
applications.
With the industry's first GPU-based Bayer interpolation
technology, RAW footage can now be displayed and played back
in real-time without requiring file conversion, providing a
significant savings in time and storage requirements.
Together with SpeedGrade .Look files, this allows for a
complete data and color grading workflow which is only 1/3
the size of regular RGB file formats.
"IRIDAS' real-time demosaic of RAW files represents a
breakthrough in the industry," said Phil Jantzen, Cinema
Product Manager at Vision Research. "It sets the bar for a
new, low-overhead workflow from production into
postproduction."
"The Phantom 65 large format camera is a significant step in
digital acquisition technologies," said Lin Kayser, IRIDAS
CEO. "The larger sensor means an exceptionally clean image
and provides an ideal canvas for SpeedGrade users to work
on. We're delighted to be working with Vision Research on
this important integration."
Support for the Cine RAW file format will be included in all
2007 FrameCycler and SpeedGrade applications, including
SpeedGrade OnSet and SpeedGrade DI. See it at NAB April 16-19, 2007 in the Las Vegas Convention Center at the Vision
Research booth C11426. For more information on the SpeedGrade and FrameCycler product families, visit
