Next Stop for the
SpeedGrade Seminars: Montreal
Hands-on experience for cinematographers' and colorists with
industry's
first color pipeline
|
Munich, January 17, 2006: … IRIDAS, who introduced the first
non-destructive color grading technologies for the film
industry, together with Cine-tal, a leading developer of
image processing, display and collaboration solutions, will
present the next SpeedGrade Seminar on January 31 in
Montreal, one of North America's most active filmmaking
cities. The sessions will provide a direct experience for
cinematographers and colorists with digital acquisition,
look creation using SpeedGrade OnSet, and on set review with
Cine-tal's new Cinemage display. |

Participants will see the SpeedGrade color pipeline in action
and learn first-hand how it offers direct integration of
production with postproduction.
SpeedGrade OnSet, available for Mac OS X and Windows XP, is a
cinematographers' application for creating and communicating
looks. The Cinemage network display device from Cine-tal allows
users to grab frames from the data stream and send these to
SpeedGrade OnSet for grading. SpeedGrade .look files can, in
turn, be loaded in the Cinemage display for graded playback, or
even live graded previews during acquisition. The seminar will
also include cineSpace calibration technology from Rising Sun
Research and SpeedGrade DI, IRIDAS' real-time color grading and
film finishing application.
"With SpeedGrade OnSet, cinematographers now have a simple means
of communicating their creative intentions with post artists and
colorists," said Stephane Lestage, president of In Extenso, a
postproduction facility in Montreal which is co-hosting the
seminar. "We welcome this approach because it makes our work
easier and helps ensure a better product in the end."
A team of presenters will be led by Jerome Sabourin, who
recently received two nominations for Quebec's Prix Gemeaux for
best director of photography for his work on le Negociatuer and
Minuit, le Soir, two of the top three French language TV dramas
in Canada. "Using SpeedGrade during production has helped me
work more efficiently," according to Jerome Sabourin. "Since I
could pregrade test shots, I had a clear idea - in advance - of
how I wanted to shoot scenes. I could actually do my work with
postproduction in mind."
The "Séminaire SpeedGrade" will be presented in French and
English and hosted by In Extenso and Video MTL, Quebec's largest
production rental company, will take place on Tuesday, January
31, 2006 at Video MTL in Montreal. There will be an afternoon
session from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and an evening session from 7:00 to
10:00 pm. For registration information, contact In Extenso at
514-524-0703.
