IRIDAS Extends Integration
of JL Cooper Panels
Addition of
MCS 3800 Provides Complete Hardware Interface for SpeedGrade
|
MUNICH, Germany: February 25, 2005 … IRIDAS the industry
leader in non-destructive color grading technologies today
announced full integration of SpeedGrade DI with JL Cooper’s
MCS 3800 control panel. Together with the MCS-Spectrum panel,
this provides colorists and DI artists with a complete
hardware interface for IRIDAS’ flagship Digital Intermediate
product. SpeedGrade uses XML
files to save and playback color correction, EDL, and other
data. The increased flexibility which this approach offers
is now enhanced with a fully interactive hardware interface.
Touch–sensitive motorized sliders on the MCS 3800 allow for
manual input of settings. The sliders then move
automatically reflecting grading, transitions (etc.) during
real-time playback at HD and 2K resolutions. |

“IRIDAS continues to enhance its SpeedGrade Product,” said
Chuck Thompson, JLCooper’s Vice President and General Manager.
“The addition of our MCS-3800 – Media Command Station to their
existing MCS-Spectrum integration provides a comprehensive
tactile interface for postproduction work.
“It’s a seamless integration of software and hardware,” said
IRIDAS USA Director Steve Crouch. “Many colorists prefer to work
with full panels since this provides a more hands-on,
interactive way of working with color and film finishing than a
mouse and keyboard.”
The JLCooper MCS-3800 panel is a fully equipped eight-fader
console. The MCS-Spectrum Colorist Command Station features 3
transparent, backlit, trackball mechanisms. SpeedGrade DI is a
software-based color-correction and film finishing application
which forms the center-piece of the IRIDAS DI System. For more
