IRIDAS Adds Real-Time RAW Support for
DALSA Camera
4K Playback, Grading, and Conform of
RAW Footage in SpeedGrade
"I have to say that SpeedGrade's new RAW support is
huge for us at DALSA, and it’s huge for filmmakers, in
that it empowers them to look at the best digital
imaging possible on set. It makes the process so easy
it’s scary! Not only can a cinematographer view shots
immediately without rendering, but staying in RAW means
that each 4K frame is just 16 MB. Combining this with
the ability to apply creative looks non-destructively
makes for a super efficient workflow."
Rob Hummel
President
DALSA Digital Cinema.

IRIDAS Releases SpeedGrade DI
2007
See
New Version of Grading and Film Finishing Application at
IBC
"For me the best thing
about SpeedGrade DI is the scope it offers for designing
creative looks. I can simulate film lab processes like
bleach bypass or Technicolor 2-Strip using FX shaders in
realtime.
3D LUTs can be used as a basis for looks so that
I can, for instance, grade video footage using a
Kodak print film's response curve. This flexibility
sets SpeedGrade apart - and all my looks can be saved as
.Look files for archiving and use on other projects."

FrameCycler VenueSystem Goes Slow Dancing
IRIDAS Provides Playback and Color Correction
for New David Michalek Art InstallationSlow Dancing
is collage of hyper slow motion sequences showcasing
elite dancers from around the world.
FrameCycler VenueSystem is providing uncompressed
playback and
SpeedGrade was used for color correction on the
project.
"I am a perfectionist when it comes to color and
image.
I did a shoot-out using the same sequence and projector
to compare uncompressed frames, using FrameCycler
VenueSystem, and
state-of-the art encoding of the
same data. As the size of the projected image grew, it
was clear that the uncompressed HD image had more
texture, more detail, and
more life to it. The point is that the IRIDAS approach
allows me to hold onto my data."

IRIDAS Extends RAW Support to
ARRI D20 Camera
Real-Time Playback at 3K ResolutionIRIDAS announced
support today for real-time
de-Bayering of ARRI D20 digital camera footage. The ARRI
RAW file format, which offers 3K resolution and
12-bit color depth, can be played directly in
FrameCycler and SpeedGrade.
Since RAW files are one third the size of
uncompressed RGB formats, this means substantially lower
storage requirements and will save filmmakers the time
that would otherwise be required to render RAW footage
before it can be viewed.
"The new IRIDAS RAW playback capability is the
link that has been missing until now. Now
we have a seamless solution for working with the D20 RAW
data in its native format."

IRIDAS Extends
DualStream Stereoscopic Technology across Product
LineIRIDAS today announced
availability of its DualStream stereoscopic
technology as an optional module for all current
FrameCycler products as well as SpeedGrade DI and
SpeedGrade HD. Rather than having to purchase a
separate application, FrameCycler artists can now
include stereoscopic content within their regular
review and approval workflow. The SpeedGrade
applications are the world's first stereoscopic
color correction systems.
"FrameCycler with DualStream proved to be an
indispensable tool for us as it allowed our artists to
regularly flip their work in progress as well as
allowing us to view our shots in stereo during dailies.
Without DualStream, we would have
had to migrate to a far more expensive soft-
and hardware mix."
